Can't You Sleep Little Bear? by Martin Waddell
Questions to ask your child in response to the read-aloud:
- Big Bear and Little Bear played outside in the bright sunlight. What do you like to do when it is sunny outside?
Wednesday:
- How Many Steps to the Door? Invite your child to guess how many steps they will need to take to get to a specific place such as a door. After they have made a prediction, invite them to walk to the specified place. Help count the steps as needed. Substitute another location such as a window or bathroom for the door.
Open ended questions:
- I notice that you ____. What do you notice?
- What happened when you ____?
- Why do you think that happened?
- If I want to ____, what should I do?
- Tell me about ____.
- How do you know?
- Tell me why ___.
