Thursday, April 23rd!

Updates
  • The second Learn at Home Packet is still available for pick up at the school from 9am-1pm every day this week.
  • We have been approved to use Zoom until a replacement has been recommended. Zoom Meetings will continue, starting next week.

Question for the Week:
What are plants?

Weekly Foundational Read-Aloud: 
Up in the Garden, Down in the Dirt by Kate Messner

Questions to ask your child in response to the read-aloud:
  • What does the garden do in the winter?

· Why do different things happen in the garden at different times?

Learn at Home activity for today:

Thursday: 
Kitchen Band
Use pots and pans, containers, or another surface to create kitchen drums. Tap on them with your hands or an object. Invite your child to suggest songs to sing, or to create new songs with you.

Open ended questions:


·               I see you moving like this. 
·               I heard you ____. 
·               I saw you ____.  Tell me about that. 
·               Let’s try playing the music loud (or soft, fast, slow). 
·               Can you try this? 
·               How does this music make you feel? 
·               Have you heard music like this before? Where?


Continued Weekly Activity
Have your child draw a picture of their favorite plant that they eat.

Scholastic Learn at Home - The website offers multiple days of content including read-alouds, movement activities, STEM activities, drawing activities, building activities, etc.  

One of the parents suggested to set up a free Zoom account and have one family member or friend teach their child something new each day via a Zoom call!
