Plants

Question for the Week:

What are some different kinds of plants?

Weekly Foundational Read-Aloud:

An Orange in January by Dianna Hutts Aston

The YouTube Link to the weekly Read-Aloud is located: HERE
Questions to ask your child in response to the read-aloud:
  • How did Julie Maren illustrate the sun? Why do you think she did that? How would you show the sun in a picture?

Learn at Home activity for today:
Friday:
Ramps
If available, use a cardboard tube (e.g. paper towel tube) or a flat surface such as a book, to create a ramp. Invite your child to tilt the ramp to various angles and roll a small toy car, ball, or other round object through the tube/down the ramp. Talk with your child about how quickly/slowly the objects roll depending on how they angle it.

Open ended questions:
·               What did you observe here/when ____?
·               I notice that you ____. How did you do that?
·               What will you try next?
·               I wonder what would happen if ___?
·               How do you know?
·               How could we find out?

Continued Weekly Activity

Watch the video, Parts of a Plant, and have your child draw a picture with the different parts of a plant.  They can also practice the plant movements mentioned in the song! Please email the writing / drawings to MrsGonzalezcovid@gmail.com
