WEEKLY REMINDERS
· Please remember to bring sleeping mats back to school.
· There is No After school Program every Friday in June. Please pick your child up between 2:45 and 3:00pm.
- Due to the uptick in Covid cases, there are a few changes that were made in regards to the in-person celebrations.
- Wednesday, June 8th - The Moving up Ceremony will be at 10:00 am. Please note that only two (2) adults are permitted to attend per child. Students are to arrive at the school at 9:15am and they go home to celebrate with their families after the performance.
- The Father's Day performance will now be held via Zoom for ALL Classes on Friday, June 17th.
- School is closed on Monday, June 20th in observance of Juneteenth.
**Please keep in mind that these celebrations may have to be canceled if the COVID numbers increase and guidelines change back.

Focused Learning Activity for this Week
Match the Baby to its Parent
· The teacher will work with students in the science center. She will help students match cards with animal babies to the adult. Children who are ready will be encouraged to attempt to write or copy the names of the animals they find.
· Pre-K Common Core Learning Standard Addressed: PK.SCI.6 Develops a model to describe that some young plants and animals are similar to, but not exactly like, their parents.

Level 1: Recall
What are some of the animals in this book?
What are some of the things the animal parents in this book teach their babies?
Level 2: Skill/Concept
Animal babies learn from their parents. Who do you learn from? What are some of the ways the animal parents in this book carry their babies? Why do animal babies need to be carried?
Level 3: Strategic Thinking
What are some of the ways the animal parents in this book keep them safe? What are some ways grown-ups keep you safe? What are some of the ways the animals in this book change as they grow up? What are some of the ways you are changing?
Level 4: Extended Thinking
How do people learn about animals?
Leonard took Buster everywhere with him. Where would you take him, if he lived with you? Why? Leonard had to say goodbye to Buster. Have you ever had to say goodbye to someone you cared about? How did you feel?
· Lessons and Activities for the Week:
Blocks-Students will be invited to use blocks to create a nursery.
Dramatic Play - The teacher will invite children to turn Dramatic Play area into a pediatrician’s office.
Art-Students are invited to create their own baby portraits with a variety of art materials.
Science-Students will be able to play a matching game, matching the adult animal to its offspring.
Math-Cutouts of babies of various lengths will be added to the math center. Students will be able to measure each baby and tell which is longest and shortest.
Library- Students are invited to read books about our theme, babies.
Writing-Cards will be supplied with pictures of animal babies as well as their names. They will be placed in a bin for children to reference as they create their own animal baby book.
Sensory-Students will be able to give babies a bath with their own containers and consider why babies need help to wash or take a bath.
